Double house in Istanbul

No items found.
Design iterations for a double villa in the outskirts of Istanbul. Design, 2021. The project questions muteness. How little can a house say? One of the major themes in Tadao Ando's work, muteness doesn't necessarily develop from a refusal of context. On the contrary, silence is often the sign of a good listener. At the same time, Einstein once said something along the lines of "my silence doesn't mean I agree. Sometimes, I just don't want to talk to idiots." Similarly, can a house observe but not agree with its context? Later on, Tafuri wrote that a lighthouse is a building to observe the seas, but also a building to be observed. Does doing one necessarily imply the other?
