Reservoir Dogs, scenic design

Plays are often adapted to the screen, but the opposite is less frequent. Here, Reservoir Dogs- Quentin Tarantino's debut film- was adapted to the stage. The main plot of the film mostly takes place in a single space, a warehouse. But some scenes occur in peripheral spaces such as bathrooms, the entrance hallway, or the parking lot. How to adapt these spaces onto the stage and maintain a continuous sequence? We came up with the concept of "live-cinema". A film crew equipped with live editing tools stood in these secondary spaces and shot actors as they were playing. The footage was simultaneously projected in the auditorium, creating a continuous narrative sequence.

Reservoir Dogs was played 5 times in La Rotonde, Lyon. It was then selected for the Paon d'Art festival in Lille, where it was awarded the jury's selection prize. Adaptation and direction: Alican Taylan, Cem Ulergin; Live Editing-Film: Clementine Pradier, Tanguy Pouzol; Music: Beverly Choucoutou, Paul Damade
